Aversion

"Apparently an effort dreamed up by the New York chamber of commerce in conjunction with Vice Recordings, this compilation makes quite an effort to remind everyone that, despite being the city that gave birth to Foreigner, C + C Music Factory and Sha Na Na, it also gave birth to some pretty sweet acts (remember The Ramones, Blondie and the New York Dolls?). While the record wants to cash in on the town's CBGB's glory days (its title is a play on 1978's No New York no-wave compilation), it sits somewhere between the glorious return of New York rock and its Foreigener-styled lows."

Indiedisco

"If this disk is any indication, New York is the most happening scene in indie America right now."
