Mellowdrone - A Demonstration of Intellectual Property

Taken from mellowdrone's electronic press kit:
- A little unknown fact:
Most artists don't really have a "message"
Most are usually just starved for attention.
- They'll pretty much say anything
to get a pat on the back now and then.
- Treat them like you would any 3 year old.
Give them candy and watch them
shut the fuck up.
Yeah. He's a sharp one. Mellowdrone has taken an approach toward his career as a singer/songwriter that I've never ever seen before. I think I'm in love.
He made his own press kit. His 6-song EP was recorded in his bedroom. His website doesn't boast fancy graphics, and even announces "$$$$$ and boobs" under his name to attract fans. Haha. He doesn't really care if you buy his CD or not. If you want it, just sign up for his mailing list. He'll give you all the tracks, and even the artwork so you can print up your own high-quality bootleg.
For all his un-pretentiousness, mellowdrone's EP is one of the most refreshing releases I've heard in a while. He combines brit-pop elements (like early era-Radiohead) with the space rock of the new Cave-In and some Smashing Pumpkins for good measure. Although I can draw references to other artists, the result he gets in this record is distinctly and utterly mellowdrone.
Grab this one off Amazon. Or, save your $6 and go download it off his website. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
