Metal is everywhere, man

I've always been impressed by the international nature of heavy metal music. If rock music has been the great cultural export of the US, the metal subgenre as originated in the UK has proven equally durable. That said, I was still surprised to discover earlier this year that metal flourishes in Morocco (remember the case of the Moroccan metal fans who went to jail), and am positively amazed to discover there's at least one extreme metal band in Iraq, of all places.

metal is fairly popular in south america... there are a number of Brazilian metal bands. Of course europe has metal bands out the wazzoo. Austrailia, too. I have an Indonisian metal group (talented, but a terrible cd due to production... blah), though they are rarer in that area of the world.

peace.

Would you believe Israel has several death metal bands? They have normal metal too, as does Egypt I believe.

Aggression and musicianship transcend language and culture better than most things.

Haha only one Iraqi metal band? Seems like they have a lot more to be angry about than Americans do. Haha.

Metal Girl, i am from Kuwait too, and i dont see metal so popular there. there is NO official Kuwaity band and im in an underground band and know most of the metal heads in kuwait. Most of the guys i know they listen to weak rock like Linkin Park, Evanescence, limp bizkit and the other crap.

There are several metal groups in Iraq right now (2007), but when I was in Iraq around year 2000 there was 1 metal band called 'Scare Crew' and several rock bands (around 15) which they made 3 yearly concerts and I attended the one in 2000, later after I left Iraq, I heared there is new metal band formed in 2001 called 'Acrassicauda' .. now there are some bands, one of the latest is 'Semi-Death' they are so cool .. personally I'm a pop fan and there is officially one Iraqi pop boyband which is 'The Unknown to no one' might be on top of the Iraqi bands that sing in english in general.
