I've been working on one for about 10 years and reordering it. I don't know why, but I've never considered the Cure, and a lot of their music is perfect. A couple of other groups to consider: Wilco (Anything from Summerteeth), The Postal Service (particularly Umbrella) and a good portion of The Suburbs catalogue are always worthy contenders.
