I hate to say it, but Boys of Summer by Don Henley and Run To You by Bryan Adams are both good crank-it-up tunes.
Ugh, how very white-bread of me to suggest those two!
Nelly's must be the money song, whatever it's called, Missy Eliot's Work It, U2's I Will Follow, Pearl Jam's Rearview, X's Motel Room In My Bed. And how could you not include "Highway Star" by Deep Purple? I hit about 120 in the fast lane when I hear that one.
"Roadrunner" - Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers
Morning Glory - oasis.
Streets Have No Name - U2
Ground on Down - Ben Harper
Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams
Pilgrims (live version) - Widespread Panic
Hurricane- Bob Dylan
Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
Bertha - Grateful Dead
Galileo - Indigo Girls
Stash - Phish
Two Step - DMB
Sweet Home Alabama - L.S.
I could go one for hours
The best way types of classic driving songs are the songs that when they are over, you have to turn off the radio for awhile. Because nothing else on the dial is coming close to what you just heard. With that in mind, my picks are Lou Christies' "Lightning Strikes Again," Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and Pet Shop Boys "West End Girls"
Perhaps you might try the song "Placebo" for your cruising mix pleasure.
The best songs of Summer:

Boys of Summer-Ataris
Rosalita-Bruce
4th Of July Asbury park-Bruce
Every Bruce song up till 78.
