Lopez Island: A Peaceful Getaway

We spent the weekend on Lopez Island in the San Juans. We left the car in Anacortes (technically on an island, but connected to Seattle by a highway) and rode our bikes onto the San Juan Islands ferry. Biking allowed us to skip the long wait in the car line for the ferry. Our inn, Channel View Farm, was about four miles from the ferry dock, and the island is all rural with low speed limits. It was so green. At first the road was surrounded by forest, but pretty soon we started passing open country, farmland, and the uncrowded village.
