Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has donated a whopping $5.88 million to a charity on that aims to house hundreds of homeless people and low-wage
workers in central London. The "urban village" is being administered by the
Crisis charity which is best known for its support of homeless people over
the Christmas period, but which runs projects all year round. Gilmour said
he was motivated by the success of a similar project in New York.
