INXS play Singapore

Aussie rock band INXS have bucked the trend and played a gig in Singapore in an effort to show the world that it is safe to travel there in the aftermath of the SARS outbreak.
More than 25 bands have cancelled shows there since the outbreak began,
including Moby, Santana, Mariah Carey, David Gray and Dionne Warwick. But
the three remaining INXS members - Andrew Farriss. Kirk Pengilly and Jon
Stevens - played an acoustic show at a restaurant there on Sunday.
Pengilly told the BBC, "SARS was a concern for us at first, but we did our
research. Hopefully just by being here, it will help countries that are
suffering from SARS and terror warnings."
The group are also promoting a World Peace Concert in Bali next month, the
first major event in the country since the bombing last year, which killed
more than 200 people, many of whom were young tourists from Australia.
Pengilly went on, "it is a tragedy for any country, but it has been a lot of
media hype that has caused the panic."
