Slash makes odd choice for new band

Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland will front the new band that has been set up by the original line up of Guns n' Roses (minus Axl) which, as we reported yesterday, will be known as Reloaded. Talking to Rolling Stone earlier this week Weiland said: "Yeah, I'm in the band. We signed the contract."

No word yet on what this means for the future of Stone Temple Pilots.

Marty: Slash could have done so much better than this. Then again who knows, Audioslave sounded like a walking disaster and they turned out one of the best debuts for a long time.

Marty's band, Growing Old Disgracefully, can be found at: Disgraceful Music. His Cthulhu tales can be found at Temple of Dagon.

That does not bode well. Personally not a fan of Scott Weiland, not that I'm that big of a fan of Slash either. On the other note, I still think Chris Cornell ruined Like A Stone. That song could have really been good if it had a singer that could properly hit the low notes. So sad.

Speaking as a Temple, I never liked STP. I did like Guns and Roses and on the surface it seems like an odd combination, indeed.

Ive lost touch with what the "remaining members of Guns N Roses" means. I remember thinking in the late 1980s - these guys won't ever disappear; they're music is too good.

The music is still good. But it's all in the memory banks. I never even heard Axl's latest. And I never wanted to listen to Slash's and Izzy's solo albums, though I like them both as people.

I'll take Weiland over Rose any day of the week. It makes sense to me.

there is only one simple stuff to correct in this band. Put Axl back on vocals, and let him and slash do their magic.

I like Weiland and I think it will be good for Slash to get a rather dominant and established frontman back in his musical career.

Speaking of Weiland, did anyone ever listen to his solo album 12 bar blues? It is really good.

As for Audioslave, I feel like this has been a bit of a dissappointment. They took the rage out of rage, and the emotion out of soundgarden and popped them together. I feel like it is a combination of the weakest parts of both bands. And I LOVED both the other bands. I even liked Cornell's solo album. (If you haven't heard Sunshower from the Great Expectations soundtrack, you need to.)

I agree with Dante. Enough with this mondo-ego shit, Axl, hook up with the boys and spin some more quality GNR. Appetite was one of the best rocks albums of all time.

I don't know what to think of the guitarist with the chicken bucket on his head ...

Axl or Slash haven't done anything worth listening to since the band split up but together they were like hard rock gods.Bring us back the real Guns N Roses

velvet revolver are a good band but whenever they play no one talks about them all they do is talk about how fuckin great it would be if gnr got back together. for old times sake the original members should make peace and get together. it would be the greatest come back in rock history.

I'm upset that the band split up...I wish that the real GUNS-N-ROSES would come back..They are real good and i have everyone of their cd's..I wouldn't mind meeting them either

I think that maybe GNR should to a fair well tour like kiss did that would awsome..I think slash was a great gatrist..I also think that Axl was a great vovalist..

Perfect combo! Axl is old news, and is a jackass! Scott fits Slash & Duff's style. I love VR for the simple fact I loved Stone Temple Pilots music and Slash's guitar playing when he was with GNR. I do believe there are more important things in the world to complain about rather then who or what could have been of a rock band that was full of drugs, alcohol, arguing and mayhem. Nothing good ever comes from that combo... they extended Axl every hand, he denied them. Now get over it people, and just rock n roll!!!

i COMPLETELY agree with Dante,TDavid, and Caine.
I believe GNR should just get back together and stop the hating.
Personally, I LOVE Axl, and I honestly don't care much to listen to Slash's solo stuff. I think they should just get back together and bring real music to our ears.

i like samantha's response too. I think she and ashley make a good point
