Bob Marley has his every musical noodle being released; John Entwistle's life is being auctioned to the four winds:

Rock legend John Entwistle's prized pink bass guitar "Frankenstein" goes on display in London on Thursday before being auctioned with his collection of exotic fish, celebrity sketches and gold discs.

...."We are incredibly lucky to be offering so many pieces from Entwistle's personal collection," Stephen Maycock, of auction house Sotheby's, said.

The 400 lots are expected to raise more than $806,000 when they go under the hammer in west London on May 13.

Entwistle's favorite bass guitar "Frankenstein," a pink Fender Precision, is tipped to fetch up to 7,000 pounds.

"It is the remains of five smashed basses, hence the name 'Frankenstein'," the bassist wrote in his private notebook.

The most expensive of the 150 guitars on sale is a rare Gibson Explorer with an estimate of between $80,760 and $113,000. A 1958 Gibson Flying V is tipped to make up to $80,760.

Among the more unusual lots are life-size casts of 30 fish — including a hammerhead shark, marlins and a barracuda — that Entwistle caught in the Caribbean.

Drawings by Entwistle of his famous friends, including Rolling Stone Bill Wyman, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, will also go under the hammer.

....An autopsy on the star found Entwistle's heart attack had been partly triggered by cocaine use. [Reuters]

Not the way he wanted to go, I am certain. I wonder if resentment over the way he died - involuntary suicide, really - has anything to do with the family's decision to hold this glorified yardsale. I am still pissed he did that to himself, and I didn't know the guy.

Check out the name of the Entwistle CD listed first below - maybe he knew something.
