I want to support the Dixie Chicks, but I was sure I wouldn't like their music, because they play country music and are not Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash or Lyle Lovett, which is usually a horrible combination of attributes. Still, my failure to reverse-boycott them was weighing on my conscience. The convergence of two events--Rip Van Falwell's statements and the recent debut of the Apple Music Store--created a situation my conscience couldn't ignore. So I made my first purchase of overpriced music at the Apple Store. I bought the Dixie Chicks "Landslide." It's not bad. I'm not saying this because I admire Natalie Maines's courage (and midriff).
