The Iraq War Reader
Published April 29, 2003
The Iraq War Reader has just been published and a blog has launched at the site. The Gulf War Reader was also edited by Micah L. Sifry and Christopher Cerf. Cynthia Cotts has a brief item about it.
The introduction and table of contents are online and it includes contributions from people ranging from Christopher Hitchens, Kenneth Pollack, Charles Krauthammer, Mona Charen, Ann Coulter, Andrew Sullivan, Daniel Pipes, both Bushs, Cheney, and Brent Scowcroft, to Seymour Hersh, Hendrik Hertzberg, Terry Jones, Jonathan Schell, Barbara Ehrenreich, Noam Chomsky, Edward Said, and Arundhati Roy. Many of the important speeches and articles leading up to the war are included. The book will be updated online (although the site just launched, there are posts going back a month):
"Our idea for this site is to continue the intellectual journey started with our first book, The Gulf War Reader (Times Books, 1991) and especially to continue the narratives that make up the second book. That is, we want to keep exploring the history of the collision of the West and the Arab and Muslim worlds; keep digging into the real facts of U.S.-Iraqi relations and history; keep pondering the wisdom of the Iraq War and the policies behind it (from all sides) and keep a sharp eye on what this means for Iraq's future and the future of America's role in the world...
Hopefully, this won't be a one-way conversation, either. We don't know if it's even necessary to say this in the blogosphere, but feel free to chime in with your own comments, suggestions for articles to read, and reactions to others."

You're welcome.
I'm sorry I missed you when you were in San Francisco though I did see Micah Sifry talk about Spoiling for a Fight a while back.

Steve!
Thanks so much for noticing -- and recommending -- our site, and book! And you even linked Micah's and my OLD books, something we OURSELVES haven't managed to find the time to do! We're very, very grateful, and will be happy to return the courtesy!
Best,
Chris Cerf
