A FCC hearing on media consolidation is underway until about 5 pm pacific time and you can listen online. It is taking place at City Hall in San Francisco. You can listen online at KPFA and KPOO (an African-American owned community station which plays jazz, reggae, salsa, blues, gospel, & hip hop). This is the agenda.

The audio or an archive of it may also be available at SF Indymedia. FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein (who is a musician and attended SXSW) wrote an op-ed on the hearing and opened it.

I'm heading down to City Hall now (so this is less detailed on the issues than I'd like) and will try and post updates in the comments section wirelessly. I'll be there until a bit before 2 pm when I'll head to the San Francisco International Film Festival to see an example of the kind of stories you don't usually see in our media, Love & Diane which is playing in NYC at the Film Forum until Tuesday and will be playing at other theaters around the country before playing on POV on PBS next spring.
