I listened to the entire album and while I'm not into their style of music some of their songs like "Back to Life" were somewhat melodic and others were hard core guitar laden songs you hear everywhere. I did object, however, to some of the lyrics and the last song (Mystic?) had what sounded like Satanic chanting interwoven in the music. As a Christian, that I just can't agree with and don't recommend it to minors. Some of the lyrics also mention rape, suicide, death, bleeding, screaming, etc... another reason to stay away from whatever it is they are trying to put out.
Evanescence is a band that is finally totally differant then all of todays pop, they completely stand out. Amy's voice is increadable way better then any other pop star. The music is well balanced with her voice and also adds a wonderful quality. I have finally found a band that meets all my expectantions of music. I listen to the cd at least three times a day. I also like that each song is completely differant. Each time I listen to the cd it gets better.
i bought evanescense last week and i haven't been able to put it down! i love their cd, although in some of the songs they mention things like suicide, death, bleeding and so on....i still think they have and excellent sound and that those words and phrases make the songs even better because they give the song meaning! i love evanescense!i'm listening to them right now!
Oh my freaking god! & all this dang time I thought that POD was the best chrisitan band of all time. This band is so freaking awesome I didn't even know it was a christian band! HELL YEAH!

Fallen is a great album. Evanescense will great success in the future as long as they keep playing like they are playing. From listening to Bring Me To Life till I downloaded it off the internet it is one of my favorite CD's. I am going to go out and buy the CD it is so good. One thing I would like to know is that are they a Christian Rock Band or Gothic Metal or what? All I know is they are great and I can't wait to see them in concert or till there next CD comes out.

from NINE INCH NAILS to TOOL but I think you guys have started a new generation of music, with your grat vocals & your hard quiter riffs & to have a femal vocalist sing in a band like yours is beautyfull. Keep making CD,S and I will keep listening to your great music.

OMG!!! I saw Evanescence 2 weeks ago in Idianapolis and they so rocked. They were there with 4 other bands, Staind being the headliner and they blew them outta the water not only in performance, vocals, but in crowd acceptance. They had the whole place rockin. If you love the music which is performed by Evanescence as much as I do, you must see them perform live they are AMAZING!!! Best concert I have ever been to yet and don't believe it can get much better than Evanescence!!!

This is an amazing cd. Amy Lee's ability to manipulate her voice is awesome. Ben Moody's guitar playing is superb and perfect. The mellodic tone between the two and is such an effusion of musical bliss to my ears. Evanescence is possibly the best band i have heard in years. They will continue to top the charts with their incredible style.

i kinda hate nu metal... except for SoaD (which i do not classify as nu metal, but as SoaD)... but evanescense isn't that bad... some songs are really cool.

i bot the cd because i had heard it was christian music. after i listened to it the first time, i still thought it was. after i viewed their video "going under" and after reading some news about the group, I don't believe it has anything to do with the God that I believe in. Quite the opposite.
Amy lee IMO, is hte best female vocalist out currently. However, how were they labeled a Christian band? Really, listen to Torniquet or Haunted and you will KNOW that ain't no Christian band.
Evanescense has created new standards for annoying music. Their melodies are so unoriginal and dull and the music is anything but heavy. It`s got plastic written all over it.
Belongs in the same league as Creed and Three doors down and all that...
And please, don`t call Evanescense a goth band, because nothing could be farther from the truth.

Well, buddy, you may be quite surprised to know the song "Tourniquet" was written by Rocky Gray who also plays in Soul Embraced, A CHRISTIAN BAND!
And Evanescence were a Christian band. Once they broke big, they disowned that so they could appeal to the lowest common denominator. They now come off as egotistical, arrogant jackoffs. enjoy your 15 minutes, kids!

I´m from Brasil and there are just few video-clips that can really full my empty being. This one of "Bring me to life" is one of those, a very good one. While most of the things passing on the television keep their superficiality, this is a video that talks about some deep feelings and a special feeling of lost of the innerself in a way that was able to connect the sound, the image and the feeling-intelekia; not perfectly but so human and disturbed as the perfect imperfect that we all are.
I have never really been interested in rock music, but Evanescense, I'm proud to say, is the first rock CD that I have ever owned. ALL the songs on the CD are BLOODY AWESOME! I LOVE IT! I would love to thank Evanescense for opening my mind to rock music. Oh - I just L-O-V-E the lead singer's voice. it's very powerful. I hope that she never loses it.
I am a Pastor and a fellow Pastor just turned me onto Evanescense's "Fallen". He was impressed with "Bring Me Back to Life". I liked it also, but as I looked through the lyrics I was taken by "Tourniquet". There are some deep thoughts in that song. Literally I said they are either Christians or use to be. After getting on the web I realized what mixed reviews there were on this band and their music.
I don't know where their at with the Lord but Jesus' words were provocative as well. After all, he hung out with prostitutes, tax collectors and sinners. I hope they stay true to their roots, quoting the thanks you, "Jesus-the only life left in me is from you."

And one more thing: Yo quiero Amy Grant. I think it's cool that she was able to transform her Christian image into her newfound role as the singer for Evanescence. Personally, I still prefer "Baby, Baby" to "Fallen", but that's just me! She does look really hot for her age though, what with the black hair and nightgown and all.
Evanesence's video 'Going Under' is definetly NOT OF GOD. The demonic imagery in this video gives glory to the enemy, NOT God! The lead guitarist is dressed in a priest's collar -- his face as well as the faces of the teenagers in the adoring crowd periodically turn demonic throughout the video.
The lead singer has a strangely beautiful voice -- blessed, however, not by God. The power in her voice comes from somewhere else. Can you guess from where my discerning friends?

I am reluctant at buying CDs.... they all finish collecting dust and filling space. But after reading comments at Blogcritis it's impposible not to run to the nearest MusicShop and purchase "Fallen". If the rest of songs are only half as good as the known "Bring me..." and "Going..." this would be my favorite CD by far.

Evanescense is my favorite band of all time. Amy's voice is absolutely beautiful, and I really enjoy listening to the CD every chance I get. First of all though, somebody said something like "Listen to Haunted and you will realize that it's not a christian band"...well, it's about rape, and the pain after being raped, it has nothing to do with God, or being Christian or being UN-christian. I am a christian and I still enjoy their music more than any other band. I love how they are so real and talk about pain and real things. I can totally relate with everything she sings about. :-D

Hello and f**k u.(Mind me language) Evanescese rock and thats that. I don't mind opinions but all you christians with your sugar-coated views of life just get on my nerves. Evanescense have the most meaningful lyrics I have heard and for example, the raping in hunted is just a fact of life - people get raped - Its nothing to do with the devil, (comment number 91) You daft ... person. Her voice, her lyrics and the music is great and there is nil you can do to it to make it not so.People sing about poverty and death all the time, but this is totally different to your pop songs etc. and you don't like it. Ok i am a diehard evanescence fan....enough of a fan to notice that you people arent even aware of the fact that this is their second album... There first one is called origin and has many other great songs...As for them being a Christian Band or not... when they first came out(origin) they were more of a Christian band...but Amy Lee and Ben Moody wanted to split the ways of Christian Music which lead to the Departure of the Bassist because he wanted to continue on the path they were going.. so NO they are not a christian band... :). Now as for the Lyrics they are just that.. i could go on about rap talking abut nothing but smoking weed and having sex with whores and things of that nature but im not going to because they are just lyrics. if any of them have offended you stop listening to it. thats the best advice i could possibly give you. but yea ummm...hopefully i answered some questions for you people...

Fortunately, I don't know what it feels like to loose someone, but listening to the song, it gets me very deep...

No entiendo esto. More than 100 posts!? Yeah, that Amy Mann can sure belt out a tune, but c'mon people. But I still can't understand why someone would say "This band is sucks." I would say that this band is kicks ass -- for a band with a woman lead vocalist, anyway. Where have you gone, Ann Wilson?
Some of my many personalities have also posted contrary views. Azriel, however, is still a fan. Although they do not stink, they aren't anything to get your black latex panties bunched up about either. Lacuna Coil mines the same vein more effectively, and their singer is 10 times the hotty of the pasty Ms. Lee.

Their songs hold some very poignant meaning, but it all depends on how YOU understand the song.

Ben Moody The lead guitarist has left evanescence for undisclosed reasons... :-(. its a very sad day in music entertainment. hopefully he will come back sometime soon. maybe in time for there appearance for the European Music Awards. and if not there then maybe he will rejoin the band when they head back to the states to tour with seether and finger eleven. I will keep you people updated.

Early last month, Evanescence headed for Lisbon, Portugal, with spirits soaring. They were stoked about their successful European tour and excited to shoot a video for "My Immortal" in Barcelona on October 10. About two weeks later the bubble burst.
On the morning of an October 24 show in Berlin, guitarist and songwriter Ben Moody packed up his gear and flew home, the band's manager said without giving a reason for the departure. Moody co-founded the band with singer Amy Lee in the late '90s.
Shortly after Moody split, Lee told the British magazine Rock Sound, "You don't do that to your band. You wouldn't do that to your friends or your family. You don't do that to anyone."
Moody's future with Evanescence is unclear, their manager said, and the band has continued its tour with second guitarist John LeCompt handling all six-string duties.
It wasn't the first time this year Moody had problems in Deutschland. In June the group canceled a string of German shows because the guitarist fell ill. Lee first spoke about Moody's departure at a concert last week in Manchester, England. "Ben flew home, but we didn't want to let it cancel the tour again," she said, according to Rock Sound.
Evanescence's European tour runs through November 10 in London. The band will launch a North American tour on November 19 in Mexico City. Dates run through December 14 in Mississauga, Ontario. Three weeks later, the band will begin a tour of New Zealand, Australia and Japan.

Evanescense is a great band. Their lyrics are meaningful and their music is melodic and has a some-what mysterious nature to it and it rox! From some one who has all sorts of CD's in her collection ( And I mean VERY different from Evanescense) I abslutely LOVE this CD!!!!! I fell in love with "Bring Me to Life" when I first heard it on the radio. When I did buy the CD I was a bit shocked about the lyrics in "Haunted" and "Tourniquet" but after listening to them over I regard them as great songs with REAL feelings. Amy's voice is GREAT, BEAUTIFUL! For all those who think that their lyrics are gothic and what-not, I totally disagree. They are real feelings and mean something... They are better than some rap out there and lyrics such as: "I'm gonna rock your body. Come and play with me....etc." Be grateful that they aren't caught up in sex and drugs like others out there.

I still like the CD because I think it has some good moments, but it definitely won't make my best-of list for this year. Anyway, just curious.

Hmmm...I have heard a lot of evanescence and hear a lot of the same suicidal, depressed rock that is so popular with people today. For some reason, everyone wants to hear about depression and suicide and sadness and emptiness because apparently "they can relate." You guys, what's up with that? I don't like their style of music, and I think female lead vocalists take away from the band (no woman can match Aerosmith's Tyler or VH's DLR!) and the guitarist isn't really that good. The music is all simple, not super complex, and they aren't about having fun. If you aren't about having fun what are you about? Personally, I'd rather listen to music about having a good time than listen to music that tells me "my hope is gone, i'm gonna die, oh no, save me, i'm gonna die, i amount to nothing, nothing can cure me, i'm depressed and uh yeah." Just because they can play in drop D doesn't make them good. I want the kind of music that plain rocks, in a good sense. I hate to say it but Evanescence is an uninspired band in the same depressed strain as Nirvana. I bet Amy Lee commits suicide sometime down the road and album sales triple. What have we become, that we LIKE this kind of music?

I see what you mean, what with all the many languages used on this post. I can identify most of them but there's one, exemplified by #174, that eludes me:

It appears to be some aberrant form of English, since there are actual English words sprinkled in with some other form of gibberish. Note the peculiar "knoT," a form with which I am totally unfamiliar. These scribblings also ignore even the most basic rules of sentence construction, although one "word" does tend to follow another in a quasi-intelligible sequence. I have always had a layman's interest in philology. Could it be that we have here evidence of some primitive civilization, albeit with access to computers and the internet? Can anyone help me out here?

Thank you, Phillip. I see that the translator can turn ordinary English into gibberish, but will not decipher gibberish. I am guessing that AOL speak is not yet standardized enough to perform this reverse decryption. It's a losing battle, though. Before the gibberese can become standardized, AOLers will no doubt corrupt it with an advanced form of gibberification.

damn i love Evanescence...they r the best. I dont think they should send anymore of their songs to pst though because they just play them out. Like my imortal...I used to love that song and obssess over it and then after i heard it like 5 times in 2 hours everyday i got sick of it.
