The World Has a heart too

This morning, I received a comment on an old post:

The: higher than a mountain, stronger than steel. I have been looking for the band's name who sings this song. Can you help me. I remember the phrase from my young days but never new the band's name. Please help me. I love this song.

Which I'm happy to help a fellow music lover in need - so I did:

No problem! It's 'Dan Reed Network' - www.danreed.com is a fan page of theirs - Great group, too bad they broke up in the 90's!

To which he later replied:

    You are the man...

I am stunned that these guys never made it big, real big.
I was about 14 when my cousin had their cd. In south Africa, cd playing
Hi-Fi's were kind of a luxury those days and that, I suppose, made the song
sound even better. Then, 2 years ago (while on the rebound)our local radio
station in Pretoria SA played it, and it brought back smells and memories of
my Trick or Treat days (even though we don't have Halloween in SA).
Hell, I'm realy thankful for your help - Google.com took me straight to your
site after I typed: higher than a mountain, stronger than steel.

I too am surpised that Dan Reed Network never made it big, they had a song on one soundtrack - but not much else than that. Their music is similar to 'Living Colour' and 'Prince' - very funky. The lyrics are well written, very moving and emotional in some songs (such as 'Stronger Than Steel') - Dan Reed Network is well worth checking out if you like funk oriented rock/pop. In fact, one of their songs might actually fit well in the war times of today:

World Has A Heart Too

....Check it out, DO - YOU WANNA, stay alive, well then listen to me, it's no jungle jive. I've been talkin to the people out in the street. It's not up in your head. Its not down in your feet. It's in your heart. EVERYBODY, better be strong, because we're runnin' out of time, so don't take too long. The world's fallin' down at a rapid rate. I'll tell you one thing people, better LOVE NOT HATE! It's obvious what is comin' down, we're losin' control of every city & town. Don't talk to me about "not your choice". You're a man with a mind, & a man with a voice. So let's speak to the people who run this rock. You don't say nothin' they will never stop because they're POWER - HUNGRY fools indeed. They don't work for the money they work for the greed. It's not to tough to trust one another. Just do unto the world as you'd do for your brother. EVERYBODY listen not just a few because the world has a heart too.

And that was from 1994 - amazing how things haven't changed in almost 10 years....

Yeah, I got over 10 of them last night so I can only imagine how many you get. I read somewhere that one of the suggestions that Mena and Ben from MT had was to provide the JPG images with words that you have to type in like on Ticketmaster.com. That way a computer can't fake the authentication.
