If you've seen Six Feet Under, or The Sopranos, you've seen the influence of the writing of Dennis Potter.

Potter's epitome, The Singing Detective is released this week on DVD. One of the best teevee series ever, The Singing Detective is the story of a man with a hideous skin condition who is reliving his past, writing a detective novel and stewing about his life, all at the same time. Apparently it is being redone in the States, and probably will be as successful as the remake of "Pennies From Heaven".
