Pieter K - Everything All the Time

What's my problem? Our own Blogcritic Pieter K has created one of the great electronic albums of the last year (released last October) and I am just now telling you about it.

Everything All the Time is a panoramic vision of electronica, centered on the skittery rhythms of drum and bass, artfully blending jazzy tonalities, lush melodic washes, and deep space environments.

Besides sheer musical taste, there is a refinement to the production, arrangements, and mastering (the latter by Craig Bevan) that lifts Pieter into the highest regions of electronic accomplishment, alongside such masters as Moby, Aphex Twin, and Meat Beat Manifesto.

The precision and clarity of the sound make the synthesis of disparate elements - instrumentation (gorgeous use of guitar harmonics), electronics, vocals (Amy Jacob on "Stars From Aircraft," a trip through the solar system in the form of a Detroit techno homage, and "Natural Light") and samples - into a coherent whole all the more impressive and effective.

Rarely does technical acumen match aesthetic sensibility in such a satisfying manner, to create electronic music that is not only pleasing to the ear but also to the soul. Highly recommended.

Career media professional Eric Olsen is honored to be the founder and publisher of Blogcritics.org, which, quite frankly, rules - as do his wife and four children.
