The Price of Political Ennui

I love our American troops. They've done a great job. A brave job. They've only followed orders the whole way through. It's not their fault they were given bad orders. Not well thought out orders. They fought hard and brave. None of this is their fault. Many of the Iraqi people have lived in oppression and fear of tomorrow. The war was also not their fault. The real killers here are Bush and Saddam. Both are mad man with egos and questionable agendas that would kill us all and destroy the world 5 times over just to prove they were right.

If ever there as a time for the American voting public to take responsibly for its nation, now is the time. With talk now of more war after Iraq, do we really need 2 more years of tears and uncertainly about our men and women as we also worry about putting food on our own tables? Terrorism is a real threat and due to our actions as a nation for the past years, it is now a guarantee. However, is it logical for us to send our resources out and worm these people out in the meantime killing so many? Pre-emptive retaliation is an oxymoron, a spin, and just plain wrong.

We can just as easily guard and protect our citizens from within our boarders. There is no reason to spend billions and billions of more dollars and send hundreds of thousands of our own on campaigns to foreign lands. Yes, nation building is desperately needed. The problem is that it's desperately needed at home.

I pray we do find these WMD... if we don't, we'll have more hell to pay than what is already on its way.

The WMD might be in Syria. So we might just have to go in there. And if we don't find them there...well, that just means those crafty bastards moved them to...hmm...I know, Iran! And if we don't find them there...hmm...well, we have pretty conclusive secret evidence that shows they are in...um, Saudia Arabia?

And if they move those damn WMDs again, we'll just have to keep looking for 'em.

Oh, and we just found out France was behind 9-11, too. Probably in cahoots with Germany and Russia. Developing...

Well yes, Brian- Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia are all on the shit list for supporting terrorism- but you forgot North Korea, the new top of the list. We don't necessarily want or need to actually start invading any or all of these countries. But a little carefully meted out intimidation and bullying may absolutely be in order.

Of course, this will be bullying and intimidating wicked criminals who have killed and helped to kill lots of innocent people. It's not like we're Mike Tyson beating up little old ladies just for fun. They need to be reined in so they won't be out killing or facilitating the killing of more innocent people- particularly Americans.

The other alternative would be to try some psychology on their ass. Perhaps a display of presidential empathy. If the president would just listen earnestly, chewing on his lip a little in sympathy, then he could tell them that he feels their pain. They just want somebody to listen to them, then they would stop acting out.

Oh, wait. We tried that approach for eight years. That got us the first WTC bombing, numerous other acts of terror, and climactically 9/11.

We will yet find some nasty stuff in Iraq as well. Patience kiddies, Daddy's working on it.

The France, Germany and Russia stuff is just facetious, though I ain't real happy with any of them right now.

I agree that there's a lot of nation building needing done here at home, but I suspect that Miss Victoria probably and Brian almost certainly would strongly oppose most of the big things that the government could do that would actually significantly build our economy. These would include major tax cuts, massive de-regulation of business, and tort law reform.
