The Price of Political Ennui

Meanwhile, still no signs of the WMD (god I hate acronyms). Sure, we've found chem. War suits. And now they have found suicide bomber vests. I am not surprised at that. That is the chosen method of fighting for a lot of Arabs. Has nothing to do with the US. Once again, it's a lack of cultural understanding. Am I saying that they should do suicide bombs? No. Is it something that was planned just for the US? No. Suicide bombs have been in use since forever. They were used by Japan in WWII. It is a lot easier to get one man strapped with explosives closer to the objective than it is to get a missile... esp. when your are Davy and you are up against Goliath. And that is exactly what happened. Iraqi never had a chance. Never. America has not been Davy for well over a hundred years now.
This has been a rout, not a war. Possibly over 3,000 Iraqi's killed and currently, near 200 coalition forces dead. Yet, looting and anarchy goes on in Iraqi and all Rumsfield can say is that free people will be free. What this really tells me is one thing: You don't have enough troops in Iraq and your cities really aren't secure. One of the responsibilities of invading and occupying (and that is what is going on) is to secure your cities as you advance. This means having enough troops and tanks to enforce marshal law and curfews. Basically, the US has gone in, shot up and bombed a lot of people... showed it's "might", yet cannot control the very cities they "conquered". What kind of war planning is that?
We are just as responsible for the aftermath if we are the ones to go in and make the changes. Where is the humanitarianism? Oh, I forgot... Bush wants the US to be in charge of nation building, but the UN can take care of feeding them. Where as I agree that if we supported the whole war, we should be the ones to direct its outcome, I still find it a bitter pill that after all the war talk, we have the resources to make sure the oil fields are secure and the fires put out, but we can't make sure that a simple museum is not broken into and looted. We can't make sure that after being "liberated", every man, woman, and child feels that yes, things are more stable. A more "sane" government has moved in for the time being. Sure, it took us killing 3000 to get there, but enjoy your liberation folks... now feel free to trash everything as we are too "busy" looking for those damned chemical weapons that are supposed to be strewn all over your country. We'll get back to stability when we're done.

Well yes, Brian- Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia are all on the shit list for supporting terrorism- but you forgot North Korea, the new top of the list. We don't necessarily want or need to actually start invading any or all of these countries. But a little carefully meted out intimidation and bullying may absolutely be in order.
Of course, this will be bullying and intimidating wicked criminals who have killed and helped to kill lots of innocent people. It's not like we're Mike Tyson beating up little old ladies just for fun. They need to be reined in so they won't be out killing or facilitating the killing of more innocent people- particularly Americans.
The other alternative would be to try some psychology on their ass. Perhaps a display of presidential empathy. If the president would just listen earnestly, chewing on his lip a little in sympathy, then he could tell them that he feels their pain. They just want somebody to listen to them, then they would stop acting out.
Oh, wait. We tried that approach for eight years. That got us the first WTC bombing, numerous other acts of terror, and climactically 9/11.
We will yet find some nasty stuff in Iraq as well. Patience kiddies, Daddy's working on it.
The France, Germany and Russia stuff is just facetious, though I ain't real happy with any of them right now.
I agree that there's a lot of nation building needing done here at home, but I suspect that Miss Victoria probably and Brian almost certainly would strongly oppose most of the big things that the government could do that would actually significantly build our economy. These would include major tax cuts, massive de-regulation of business, and tort law reform.

The WMD might be in Syria. So we might just have to go in there. And if we don't find them there...well, that just means those crafty bastards moved them to...hmm...I know, Iran! And if we don't find them there...hmm...well, we have pretty conclusive secret evidence that shows they are in...um, Saudia Arabia?
And if they move those damn WMDs again, we'll just have to keep looking for 'em.
Oh, and we just found out France was behind 9-11, too. Probably in cahoots with Germany and Russia. Developing...
