The Jayhawks: Rainy Day Music

More alt.country. Released yesterday, bought yesterday, so there hasn't been much time for it to sink in and really be enjoyed, but so far it's treated me well. The limited edition I bought is a two-disc set, with 14 songs on the first and six songs on the second. Raw, wonderfully sweet harmonies. Some tracks tend more to country-rock, some to Uncle Tupelo, and some are even reminiscent of the Beatles. This may sound incongruous, but it works. Trust me. Too early to determine a favorite track, but they do a nice cover of "Will I See You In Heaven."

Bobby Allison-Gallimore feels that the Kansas City Royals beginning the season 6-0 is just the set-up for a cruel joke to be played against him and all other lifetime fans of the Boys in Blue. He blogs at The Rattler.
