Joyful Sorrow "Quietude"

Folk music is not exactly the best genre to "break in to" these days. A band can be extremely talented in the folk scene, and yet never receive the attention that perhaps they deserve. Joyful Sorrow is one of those bands.

With the help of several musicians, Steven and Heather Zydek create a peaceful and serene landscape on their album, Quietude. Violas, peaceful keyboard melodies and soothing vocals all combine on this effort to create a splendid piece of work. Through in the fact that it was mixed and recorded in a basement and you have an anomaly that is perhaps unparalleled in the folk rock musical universe.

Overall, this album is a nice bedtime, just ran a marathon haven't slept in a while, throw in your Cd player and crash on your pillow-top mattress album. Not for fans of anything normally considered "underground" or "Indies", at the very least this couple has created something that they can treasure.
