Rise Against "Revolutions Per Minute"
Published April 09, 2003
I was only 1 year old in 1981 when the punk rock scene was starting to birth the hardcore movement in New York and in other major cities around the nation. I would give anything to go back just for a day and see a band in the beginning put forth all of their intensity and passion in a concert--not for the money--but for the love of the music and scene.
Rise Against may be all of the younger generations to see such a band. Their upcoming effort, Revolutions Per Minute is a flashback to the days of hardcore yore. Screaming vocals, punk rock harmonies and drums a blazing, the guys in Rise Against know what passion is all about.
Overall, this album puts forth what few albums have in the past few years--intense dedication and passion. Every once in a while a band springs up that has the potential to breathe new life into a particular genres "scene". Rise Against is such a band and is one to look out for in 2003.
Lyrics- A (Powerful and intelligent, someone actually thought about the political thoughts and ideology's behind the words. Imagine that?)
Objectionable Content- B (Yes, there is some objectionable content. Yes, I am usually against objectionable content. This band is so full of strength and energy, I still couldn't give them lower than a B in this category.)Overall Album- A ( Wowzer. Spectacular addition to any enthusiast's collection.)
