R Kelly releases patriotic song.

With US radio shunning the plethora of anti-war tracks that have been
released via the internet of late, is it any surprise that a new track by R.Kelly which has been described as a "tribute to the courageous soldiers and military men and women who are risking their lives to preserve freedom" is getting mucho radio play from more than 25 key radio stations over there?

Talking about the track R Kelly told reporters: "This song is my way of saying thank you to everyone protecting us, and allowing us to sleep comfortable at night and send our children off to school in the morning. Some of these young men and women are just 18-20 years old themselves, some have never left their hometown prior to basic or advanced training. The fact that their journey is far, frightening, and unfamiliar to them does not stop them."

The song will be released on 23 Apr to raise money to support the families of the soldiers.

Cynics might say that while R Kelly's intentions are no doubt honourable the patriotic track will help him score brownie points with Middle America as he awaits trial on 21 counts of child pornography and under-age sex.

Marty: What me cynical? R Kelly is trying to do his public service stuff ahead of his trial to make himself look better. R Kelly might want to consider going on a USO tour as well.

Marty's band, Growing Old Disgracefully, can be found at: Disgraceful Music. His Cthulhu tales can be found at Temple of Dagon.
