The Stop Motion "Crushed"
Published April 02, 2003
The Stop Motion is an independent, slow vibe rock band out of Miami FL. That doesn't play games when it comes to their music. Their newest album, "Crushed", is a barrage of vocal styling reminiscent of much of the cookie cutter rock one might hear on the radio today. A guitar riff here--a drum roll there--viola!--instant rock and roll soup. Unfortunately, this album is par at best, never really hitting its groove, and displaying only mediocre ability at any position in the band.
Fans of radio rock might want to give this album a listen as it continues much in the same direction. Distractions on this disc include the "independent" sound in their mixing and production, and the lack of ability of their lead vocalist to to stay on pitch. A good studio and a little practice may push this band up toward the next level--of course so would a new lead vocalist. Either way, they need some improvement somewhere before their material is ready for mass consumption.
