Elephant: The travails of Kazaa
Published April 01, 2003
I've spent the last hour trying to download the new White Stripes album, Elephant. At first I thought I'd hit paydirt when my search turned up multiple copies of all the songs. Then I realized that they were different lengths. Very different lengths. When I played the first few tracks, they were all just loops of the first thirty or so seconds of each song. But I found a few that were real.
The real ones were invariably 192 kbps and included the track number, while all none of the fakes were either of those. Haha, record industry, your little ploy to load up Kazaa with mere samples of the album was easily penetrated. Now I just need one more song and I'll give you a review tomorrow.
