J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series has been acknowledged for its cultural impact with a new definition in the online Oxford English Dictionary, along with over 2000 other changes and additions.
- Muggle, n. In the fiction of J. K. Rowling: a person who possesses no magical powers. Hence in allusive and extended uses: a person who lacks a particular skill or skills, or who is regarded as inferior in some way
"Muggle" also has several other definitions including "a marijuana cigarette; a joint," which was popular in the '30s - I'm not sure what to make of that.
Fans eagerly await the fifth book in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which arrives on June 21, and the DVD of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which arrives April 11: both can be pre-ordered from Amazon, where both are no. 1 sellers.
