"If a great portion of the audience out there continues to download music, exchange MP3s or copy CDs using their PCs, we'll end up with a scene and an industry containing nothing other than Britney Spears. If anybody calls himself or herself a fan, he or she wouldn't even consider downloading, exchange MP3s or copy CDs using their PCs." Quorthon of Bathory

Then again, in that same interview Quorthon claimed the latest Bathory album sold 50,000 copies, which is nothing to sneeze at considering what a limited appeal his music has. And considering how that heavy metal fans will pay extremly high prices for CDs even if they can get the tracks on MP3, I don't think Quorthon is going to have to worry about paying the bills any time soon.

If I have to point to an example of how bad rock music can get in terms of sheer uselessness, I just indicate Bathory. I had to write promo material for them, and my self-loathing reached benchmark levels.
