Punchline "The Rewind EP"
Published March 17, 2003
Pop-punk music has been done too much by too many bands. Most of the drivel that is being pawned off on America as “punk” is nothing more than preteen angst ridden love ballads sung by kids that try to hard, and who are simply in it to make some “bling”.
Unfortunately, a little known punk band called Punchline doesn’t seem to be bucking the trend. Their hooks are amazing, their harmonies are catchy, their instrumentation is precise, but—uh-oh—their lyrics are preteen angst ridden love ballads. The music sounds good though, and in a world full of bands that should not be signed, and a bunch of labels that should have never been started, these pop-punk rockers stand above the rest.
While the sound quality is way below average on this recording, and the mixing is horrible, you can definitely hear the potential that these kids posses. This is a band to be on the lookout for in 2003—hopefully a little time and practice will thrust these guys into the limelight—heck, maybe even bring them a little of that “bling”.
