Mara'Akate "s/t" EP

Mara’Akate and their unique blend of noise-core bring a lot to the table in their S/T EP.

Most bands in this genre have trouble balancing everything in their music so that the listener doesn’t get lost in the static and distortion. Not Mara’Akate—their perfect balance of frenzied drums, destructive guitars and sternum shattering vocals set this band a notch above the rest.

Lead vocalist, Josh Drew, destroys all preconceptions of noisecore with his guttural screams and his distinct projections. Guitarists Brian Wyrick, who also did the spectacular artwork for the disc, as well as Colin May, have a depth in their guitar work not found in many bands who are a part of the hardcore genre today. Bass player Derek Black and drummer Phillip Egierski round out the bands talented lineup. The clever lyrics and track titles add to the already abundantly creative package of this debut album, and seal the deal, making this disc a must have for any fans of this genre.

Fans of Training For Utopia, The Refused and other such chaotically blended bands will find Mara’Akate’s album an aural playground, good to the very last drop.
