Mr. Gallagher makes for an instructive example. By his comments, he's clearly a good liberal, and not supportive of the coming war. Fair enough.

Unlike a lot of musicians and celebrities, however, he he has no interest in using the situation for cheap self-aggrandizement. He's not so presumptuous as to think that the free world is waiting with baited breath for the analysis of the esteemed Noel Gallagher.

Nor does he sound like he thinks himself morally superior to all those fools who supposedly don't get "IT." I find it unlikely that he would be involved in any kind of campaign for any cause out to "raise awareness."

In short, he has at least some modicum of humility and personal perspective on his place in the world. Speaking for myself, it is the pure ARROGANCE of many of these people that galls me much more than any difference of opinion about policy.

I bet a fellow could sit down and have a reasonable conversation about the world with Mr. Gallagher. You really couldn't with the likes of Sheryl Crow or George Clooney.
