Derek Webb- She Must and Shall Go Free

Derek Webb plays folk music. He throws in some bluegrass and country influences, too. He's got a shaved head, some tattoos, and loves Jesus. He was in the Christian band, Caedmon's Call, where he did fairly well.

All of that boils down to a cd that is alternatively soft and yet harsh. On one song he's singing about the love of Jesus and on the next he calls the church a whore. All of this intertwined with folky music. I find some of the songs a little bland and generic, however, that is fairly common in the folk scene.

If you are a Christian who wants some lyrically challenging music and you like folk, be sure to check this out. And if you enjoy Caedmon's Call, this should be a welcome addition to your collection.

peace.
