George Clooney renounces Jerry Springer.

He says the US chat show host, who is set to run for public office in Ohio next year, is "coarsening" America.
Springer was given his first job in TV by Clooney's presenter dad Nick.
Speaking on the Richard And Judy Show, Clooney said: "There was a time when we were friends but Jerry went too far, literally using the misery of others as entertainment.
"He's no friend of my family any more."

George Clooney spent five years playing a doctor on ER, as well as playing a fireman in this TV movie dramatisation of the 1993 World Trade Centre attack, so he presumably knows the entertainment potential of other people's misery and trauma. Or is George better than Jerry somehow because the misery he was helping present on the screen in these sterling works was fictionalised?
