I have never been able to get my head around architecture: sure I like nice buildings and I am fairly interested in interior design, but the actual work of summoning buildings forth from the mind has never been something I have much understood.

So that's my excuse why I have bagged out of the whole Ground Zero design/rebuild story. But now a design has been chosen, and, besides being THE ace arts and entertainment blogger, Jan Herman has been covering Ground Zero for MSNBC all along. Since I haven't been following this - how is "rebuild" different? Do they want to literally rebuild exactly the same? And why?
