The Boy Ain't Right

There was a train derailment this week in Ontario, with a number of cars containing propane and some others ammonia.


A huge tank full of liquefied propane had been burning since Friday morning, when two trains collided in a fiery wreck.

The derailment was in an isolated area near Melrose, east of Belleville, Ont. Fire officials had decided to let the fire burn itself out.


To put out the fire before it spread to the chemicals, they have blown up the propane cars to burn out the fire. On the news, reporters stressed that burning the propane wasn't a hazard, and I found myself piping up, "because it's a clean-burning fuel - taste the meat, not the heat".
