NaturoTronica: In Conversation With Tycho (Scott Hansen)
Published February 23, 2003
JJ: Organic. We luv's that! ;) Please wind things up with a little advice for the 'heads out there.
Tycho: Don't compromise what you want to do, or what you think sounds good, for what's cool at the moment, or what other people are doing or talking about. Don't sell out your own vision of what's good. Because that's what's important. Originality. What you feel comes naturally to you.
JJ:Hm...that sparked one last question! If you had an unlimited bankroll, who would you work with--your dream gig?
Tycho: I know I'd work with female vocalists...I love female vocals. They really add a lot to a song--give it a good feel. Maybe Beth Hirsch, if I could. Still, I'm at the culmination of a lot of years of work, and that's the thing about being independent. No one's rushing you.
I've been able to culminate all this material and put it all on one album, instead of spreading it out. I'm enjoying where it's going, and I think it's a good reflection of where I am.
Honestly, given all the money in the world, I really think I'd be working on the project I'm working on right now. JJ

We wanna give a shout-out to the spirit of Tycho Brahe (1546-1601). This Danish astronomer recorded the first exploding star seen in Europe, and also coined the term "nova." One of Brahe's myriad of intriguing quotations goes as follows..."To the energetic man, every region is his fatherland."

If music were his day job, the artists listed below could be Tycho's cubiclemates:
AIR ~ Elliott Smith ~ Freedy Johnston ~ Legendary Pink Dots ~ Thievery Corporation
