Cleveland Imam "Co-conspirator One"

Yesterday's report in the PD was even more damning of Damra:

The 121-page indictment refers to a speech Al-Arian made in Cleveland on April 7, 1991. It says that "Unindicted Co-conspirator One" introduced Al-Arian at the event and solicited money for his group after the speech.

The indictment says the "unindicted co-conspirator" told the audience that Al-Arian's group was referred to as the Islamic Committee for Palestine "for security reasons."

....Matthew Epstein, a terrorism analyst with the Investigative Project, a counterterrorism think tank in Washington, said: "It appears that Fawaz Damra is Co-conspirator One' based on the fact that Co-conspirator One' says things that exactly match what Damra said on the tape released by the INS, on the same date."

Yesterday's indictment was not the first instance the controversial imam has been linked with alleged terrorists. Many of the suspects in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing case attended a mosque he once led in Brooklyn, and Damra has admitted he was questioned by FBI agents who investigated the case.

Controversy over previously disclosed remarks Damra made at the 1991 event with Al-Arian cost him a job teaching about Islam at Lakeland Community College.

So it would appear "co-conspirator one" is right here in Parma, being supported in his hateful worldview by members of the local Islamic Palestinian community. This cannot be left unchallenged.

Imam Damra is an upstanding citizen. I know Imam Damra...he is a positive role model, an AMERICAN CITIZEN, and all around good guy. The charges are baseless, unjust, and UNETHICAL. Just as many Muslims...AMERICAN CITIZENS have been "labelled"...in fact the entire population has been labelled.

Peace!

George, have you seen the latest news that he has been arrested? There is all kinds of evidence against him, or don't you believe your own eyes when you see the anti-Jew rant on video? On one level I'm sure he has been an "upstanding citizen," but he is also, at best, a terrorist sympathizer, a terrorist fundraiser, and he may have knowledge of actual acts of terror. If supporting by word and deed acts of terror against Israeli civilians makes for an "upstanding citizen," then you have a different difinition than I.

How can you challenge a mans faith? Fawaz is a very beautiful person. I'm sure you have made statements you wish you could take back as I have. Even if you beleived they were true. if North Korea stormed our country< would you say good things about them, I wouldn't! You have to look at the way we see things (islam and arab communiy) So many lifes are lost oversees for what? Gas and oil at a lower cost. All i'm saying is look at him as a good man and a pure muslim. Every one is our brothers in islam. Fawaz stay strong>

J Rose, I don't believe I challenged his faith, just his behavior, and considering all that has happened since I wrote this over 18 months ago, I certainly don't think I overstated or misrepresented anything.

Do you support Hamas? He did.
