Graphically, the game looks very good and unlike Baldurs Gate/Icewind Dale the characters are not tiny on even the largest of screens. The game looks very similar to the excellent Vampire: the Masquerade. It plays similar as well. Path-finding and characters following instructions is much better in this game that in either BGII or IWD. If you tell a character to do something he or she will do it. It is possible and necessary to have two Summoner characters doing different things at the same time. The interface makes this process fairly easy. The interface, unusually for an RPG, is rather good and very user friendly. There are various ways of selecting a character or a group of them, and attacking is very straightforward.

There is multiplayer available for up to four players either on LAN or the internet. Multi is co-operative play with random encounters allowing you to increase your experience and stuff. Unlike, Diablo its not possible to get your friends to help you get pass those difficult monsters.

Overall Summoner is a great little game that shows that console games can work on the Mac. It is well worth the price of entry and will provide you will hours of role-playing fun. I suspect that the game can be had for a discounted price. Too bad Graphsim can?t be bothered to produce a OSX version.

Thanks to The MacSmith for a review copy of this game.
