Soul Embraced- Immune

Soul Embraced is a side project from members of undergound metal heroes, Living Sacrifice. Thier first cd was a decent attempt at death and black metal. Unfortunately, mediocre production and terrible vocals ruined it. Now, older and wiser, they are set to release thier sophomore album on Feubuary 25th.
The opening song, "Immune to Emotion," could have been a left over track from a bad Living Sacrifice recording session. Not a bad track, per se, just lacking in origionality and voice. The 2nd song continues in that same vein.
The 3rd track actually starts off sounding fairly black metal before some clean vocals ala Demon Hunter. A fairly decent song that might make it's way onto some mix tape sometime.
Unfortunately, the rest of the cd goes downhill from there. Most of the songs just sound like bad Living Sacrifice impressions, with one sounding like a badly produced Zao song.
If you are an obsessive Living Sacrifice fan, you will probably find something tasty here to listen to to make the money well spent. Otherwise, you would do better to save for something else.

I only heard Immune to emotion but I really like it! It's as tight played as any song can ever be. This kind of music can't be played loud enough, you have to immerse yourself in the rhythm to enjoy it...
you can turn up the volume of any cd to improve it....

There is not a lot of music that sounds better with more volume IMHO.
haha. you may be right. however, as far as metal/metalcore/hardcore and all that jazz, volume always improves.

To 'The Theory' - Check out Meshuggah, specifically (although Chaosphere is my personal favorite) their 'Nothing' album. I think you'll find the drumming style to be very similar (read: superior) to that of Soul Embraced. Meshuggah has virtually patented the 4/4 snare/cymbal vs. off-time kick-pedal style. All others are mere impersonators.
On the other hand, I too like the Immune to Emotion track and must admit its very catchy. Another note of appreciation: their pic on mp3.com has 3 members - one of them is singing and playing at the same time. They get extra cool points for that. But their still pretty weak compared to Meshuggah.
definately... i didn't mention anything about the drumming style, though... don't know where you were going with that.
