I was excited about the movie because I thought it was about a frat guy and a sorority girl and I thought they were going to make fun of pledges and drink grain alcohol punch and fall backwards off balconies and stuff. But it was just about Mediterranean-Americans so I didn't watch it.

Several years ago, while in a state of mild confusion and indecision brought on by the death of a disant loved one, and after reading Alternative Press' drooling, slobbering, lavish praise in a huge cover story, I went to the local mall, stopped by the corporate music store, and used a gift certificate to purchase some cd's, because buying cd's always seems to make me feel better (for a little while, then it's right back to the fiery depths!). One of the cd's I purchased that day was by ICP, based on the aforementioned piece in AP that slathered greatness on these guys like they were the second coming of Grandmaster Flash's and Faith No More's torrid love child (that's when I really learned that music magazines don't put bands on their covers because they like them, or think they are artistically important-they do it all for the money!). Well, let me tell you, I have heard alot of horrible music in my day, but this my friends, was the worst. And yo, I'm no snob when it comes to this stuff, believe that. I'll give anything a chance, especially if it's supposed to be either heavy, fast, or offensive. Horrible, dumb lyrics (offensive only due to their inept conception and delivery, not content), no ryhme flow, just pitiful. The only redeeming aspect was they gave props to the singer of Letters to Cleo (but insulted her bandmates, natch). I had to wash my ears out with large helpings of Eric B and Rakim, the first Run DMC album, and my cordless drill.

Anyway, the next day I traded it in for a remastered copy of Iron Maiden's "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". And it rocks!

It gives a brief delve into the history of the Insane Clown Posse, and an equal oppertunity, damn near unbiased look at the lives of the self proclaimed Most Hated Band in the World. Another thing that I find slightly humorous and pains me to a slight extent, is that mildly intelligent homosapiens enjoy playing "fish" with others who may have less intellectual capacity. No offence to any Juggalos, as i've stated before, most of us were brought up in questionable environments. And another thing. The Wraith: Shangri-La is a very positive album, that uplifts many who listen to it to a state of near euphoria for a few brief moments, and has very little negative impact. Speaking from the point of view of a long-devoted Juggalo, it is artistically better than many other Joker's Cards in my opinion. Musically, lyrically, and in the overall flow, it rivals even Tales from the Lotus Pod, one of the best pieces of music i've ever listened to. Well, I've personally come to save the juggalos. I'm 16 years old, and I'm from Washington Michigan. I find that ICP is the music that I can relate to. Most people reflect their music preference to their personality *i.e how they dress, how they act, etc.* I can say that most people that listen to punk dress with stupid nylon chains on their pants, really tight shirts, and stupid haircuts. That's my opinion, but I don't go around forum bashing just because I have nothing better to do with my time. I stick with reviews that interest me, nothing else. People that listen to rap such as tupac sometimes dress like a moron in red thinking they're west siders. This isn't for all people, but if you were still in high school, you would realize this. I definately knew from the get-go I didn't want to be percieved as a gangster, or punk straight-edge kid. I really didn't want to be a part of any of that crap. I popped in a couple ICP cd's, and there it was. The beats (especially Riddlebox) just caught me. I knew that this was what I needed to further look into. Chicken Huntin' has a wicked sounding beat to it, and none the less entertaining lyrics. I must admit, they're not the brightest of the bunch, and it's ok if you comment on those notes, but making fun of the fans is not right. That's like making fun of people for what church they go to. The 6 jokers cards are, The Carnival of Carnage, the Ring Master, Riddle Box, Great Milenko, Amazing Jeckal Brothers, and the Wraith. Each one has a message that needed to be spread. The message sums to peace, love, and equality; all of that is behind their violent lyrics. They wanted to save as many people before the 6th and final card rises, and time consumes us all.

Anyways...People who diss on ICP dont know shit about them, or what they've done, aight here i'll give you guys a couple more facts about them, if you dont wanna know, i dont give a fuck, stop reading this post. Aight here it is..They made 2 albums while they were in the Inner City Posse. They changed their name to the Insane Clown Posse and released their first jokers card, the Carnival of Carnage, in '92. They have 2 plat. albums, and 5 gold albums.

They also were in WWF, WCW, and ECW i believe, but they dropped outta there, bought their own wrestling ring, and now have the 3rd largest wrestling federation in the world. They also created their own record label, Psychopathic records. They were chillin one day and came up with the idea of a 3-4 day concert, basically you get to camp out with all of the bands that are performing, called the Gathering of the Juggalos. I just stumbled upon this tonight, and I have to say that this is one of the funniest message boards I've seen in quite some time. I listen to ICP, however I'm not a juggalo (I used to be a juggalo, though...not one of the narrow-minded, moronic juggalos (or 95% of ICP's fan base)). And before any of you juggalos bash me, consider this: I've been to ICP concerts before and I've personally seen the fans getting irate because the venue didn't open the doors quickly enough. "Juggalos" were unscrewing bulbs from underneath the venue's awning and smashing them in the street; "juggalos" were throwing random items (Faygo bottles, etc) at peoples' cars. What kind of "family" does this? If you're supposed to be family, then respect other people (especially since they have NOTHING to do with you or your life)!

Now, for those who are bashing ICP: their music does contain a message, but it's very hard to hear it unless you actually sit down and listen to some of their albums. Yes, their music is littered with violence and other vulgar content, but the music does contain a message (a lot of it is, however, made for no other reason than to entertain). It's very hard to comprehend, and most of ICP's fans make it to where it's hard to believe that ICP's music even puts out a message (just look at most of the fans' behavior, as listed in my first paragraph).

For the ICP fans: you're not making the situation any better when you're telling the ICP bashers that their music sucks, or if you're telling the writer of the article that you hope he dies. If you want to defend yourselves, stop typing shit like "ima kill u muthafacko whut whut icp in dis bitch fo lyfe" and put some real defense into why you're responding to the people that dislike ICP. All you're doing is giving them more to laugh about.

**And before either ICP fans or ICP haters on here criticize me, keep this in mind: I used to be a juggalo, but I was never the typical juggalo that was totally disrespectful to everyone or the typical juggalo that was so narrow-minded that they hated someone based on what music they listen to. To generalize fans of a group is very ignorant. I've been "Down with the clown", as some would say, since I was 13-years-old and I am now 20. I really don't consider myself a moron because I am a Juggalo. I agree though, that many Juggalos are morons and that they lack some intelligence, and have a below average IQ. But to generalize all Juggalos as being like that is, as I said before, ignorant. I have just recently finished college and am currently working in a machine shop and using programming that, many people viewing this site and the writer of the column themself, probably couldn't comprehend.
Please don't lump Juggalos like me in with Juggalos like the first postee of this columns comments. Juggalos like that are the ones that make us look stupid. Incoherent, misspelled, mindless dribble is all I ever read from most Juggalos.
Though I can't explain my love of ICP's music, I do know that I like it, and I like it a lot. Since I was 13, I've listened to at least a little bit of ICP everyday... as well as Twiztid, Blaze, ABK, Dark Lotus, Esham, and yes, even Zug Island. ICP are not the best rappers out there, hell Twiztid are WAY better rappers than the wicked clowns, but they appeal to the Juggalos.
In conclusion, please don't lump the Juggalos together, some of us ARE morons, while others are College educated, blue collar workers who, despite what you may believe, are smarter than you may think. Everybody has a different taste in music and ICP have managed to find their niche in the music industry and have unarguably become very successful doing what they do. They definitely don't appeal to the masses, however, for some reason, I doubt that bothers them.
