I've been meaning to check the newswires and such to see if there's been any update in the Pete Townshend case, since the mainstream media seems to have forgotten the issue already.
Last week, Townshend's reappearance before police investigators was delayed.
Pete's webmaster Matt, says that Pete says that the IWF (Internet Watch Foundation) says that Pete did contact the IWF several times last year about child pornography on the internet.
Quote from Pete:
"You may recall that among the media frenzy of a couple of weeks ago, representatives of the Internet Watch Foundation told the press and the news stations that they had never heard from me. I, of course, know that I did communicate with them several times last year and they have now supplied to us copies of my e-mails to them, one in August and the rest in November. My lawyers have written to the Founder of the IWF, Mark Stephens, who was adamant that they had never heard from me, asking for an explanation."
Supposedly, Elton John has come to Pete's defense, though it is a rather tepid defense:
Speaking in Los Angeles, Elton said: "I'm a friend of Pete, I love Pete, my thoughts are with him."
Where's the "I know he didn't do anything wrong" phrase?
Roger Daltry, isn't mincing words, though. In an interview for Virgin Radio he said: "What I find so unfair is that it has become a witch-hunt and, because it is subjudice, he is not allowed to defend himself."

I've never much cared for the over the top anthems the Who perform and when I heard these two quotes attributed to mr. Townshend I stopped ignoring them and began to actively despise them. I'm sure I'll mangle the verbiage a bit but the gists were: "The other day I was playing the guitar and I was astonished at how good I am. But then I'm equally good at many other things." Another time at a concert in England given for their equivalent of the Boy Scouts he said, "It's become quite popular of late to say things about people who've passed away so I'd like to be the first to say, I fucked John Lennon." Now ain't that lovely.
