Spike Says Get Busy

Spike Lee has kind of drifted off from my attention sphere over the last 10 years or so, but man, does he hit the nail on the head regarding the fantasy world of "reality" TV, and I would apply his very sensible reasoning to the lottery as well:

Spike Lee says he isn't a fan of reality TV shows that create the illusion that success is the result of luck rather than hard work.

"They trick people into thinking (they don't need) to do their homework or woodshedding," the filmmaker said Wednesday at the opening of Penn State-Behrend's monthlong Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.

"If people believe that, they're crazy."

Lee, 45, said he didn't make his first film until he had graduated from Atlanta's Morehouse College and studied at New York University's Institute of Film and Television. [AP]

Maybe Spike's time has come - everyone seems to like 25th Hour.
