Buffy's Seven Deadlies
Published January 13, 2003
I haven't seen all of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I just got the Season Three DVD last week, and UPN has just started broadcasting in Toronto.
That said, and given the uncertainty about another season, I think this will be the last season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Why? The Seven Deadly Sins. Seven Seasons, Seven Big Bads.
Since I haven't seen all the seasons, I'll just list what I think is the deadly-big bad combo:
Season One: Pride
Season Two: Lust
Season Three: Avarice / Greed
Season Four: Gluttony
Season Five: Envy
Season Six: Wrath / Anger
Season Seven: Sloth
Why Sloth? I think Burke summed up this season when he said :"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" isn't that what The First Evil has been doing all this season?

I think unbridled acquisiton of knowledge sounds like gluttony. Plus Adam was cobbled together from more and more parts, always seeking more.

Season Four's Big Bad was Adam, the demonoid creation of Professor Maggie Walsh (who taught psychology at the local college). Unless the unbridled acquisition of knowledge is a form of gluttony, I'm not sure this 'un fits into the equation . . .
