The Crooked E: The Unshredded Truth

I watched "The Crooked E: The Unshredded Truth About Enron" last night. While it was a good movie and the principal actors were good in their roles, I just didn't find it as informative and "dirt-scooping" as I expected.

I'm fairly certain this has to do with the flaws in the story itself. Just the title itself implies that this was written by someone involved at the highest levels or at least involved in the scheming that was Enron. While I knew this was true, I still went in expecting a story of corporate swindling.

The principal character, Brian Cruver, is a recent business school graduate and a low-level, if not entry-level employee who is wholly unaware of what is going on at the higher levels. As the story progresses, he becomes only marginally aware of what's really going on and finally near the end, becomes aware of the reality.

The movie itself wasn't bad, but the expectation was just too high. It was implied that this is a "naked truth" type of story written by someone who was in the know. It's not, it's more of an autobiographical story about someone who learns his lessons the hard way.

I haven't read the book, Anatomy Of Greed: The Unshredded Truth From an Enron Insider by Brian Cruver.
