Dogwood - Seismic
Published December 19, 2002
The members in Dogwood have more intensity and passion in their little fingers than most bands in the scene have flowing through their entire bodies.
"Seismic," Dogwood's seventh full-length release, which will be hitting stores on Jan 28th, 2003, boasts all of the same flare as the six prior efforts from this ground breaking punk band. From track 1, Seismic, to track 12, Crushing, the band once again takes a look at the world from the inside of a man and strives to push everything except what really matters to the outside fringes. Track 2, Selfish Americans, is an excellent example of this process, as it explores the seeming redundancies of being an American with more privilege than most in the world can dare to imagine.
Musically, Dogwood is not your typical punk rock band. Talented at each position, every piece of the Dogwood puzzle fits so tightly, so perfectly, that no holes can be heard. They have been together for so long; it almost seems as if they read each other's minds flowing from one note to the next. Average is a word that cannot be used to describe Dogwood; adjectives like intricate and precise fit them much better.
All in all, this latest addition to the Dogwood chronicles is a welcome collection of their thoughts and feelings on the world around them. Honest and imaginative, fans of punk music will be very pleased with this offering.

so noted...
But you still rock my world and nice work on this review
Dude, I didn't know you were travis from OGS, Love OGS, thanks for reading! (note comma)
Actually their current members come from these bands:
Lead Guitar (Daniel)---LOGOS
2nd Guitar (Eddie)---Three For Flinching
Bass---Convicted
the 2 songs i heard on the the t&n prerelease sampler were, like, a minute and a half long each...
i hope most of the songs are longer than that.
peace.
The songs are indeed a bit longer. This album is overall alot harder than their past two albums and sort of mix between Through Thick and Thin, the indie release, and More Than Conquerers. Its a really good album for Dogwood.
Kind of makes me wonder how much longer they will stay with T&N. I think they could go bigger. Not that T&N is small time or anything.
much love for your OGS comment, Jeff :)
Dogwood COULD be much bigger - yes, they have the recognition, but they don't have the touring. They toured lots once a day, then found out they lost money doing it, so they stopped playing anything but local shows..which means they're just not getting out there anymore. A bigger label wants more "dedication" so to speak, and i hardly think the guys are making a living off this band..
Brandon - At cornerstone, the NIV guitarist was in the band, NIV announced it as well as Dogwood, and i have both on video - but i guess it switched? Who knew...BUT ON WITH RUSSEL WHO ROCKS MY WORLD.

great review - except it's not the original band anymore. They've picked up the guitarist from NIV and a bassist from i don't know where. the two that've been there are russel and the singer (josh?)
