Rag Man by Pete Hautman

This is the story of Mack MacWray. He operates a clothing outfit, and is taken by a con man, you can read the setup here.

The book is like Elmore Leonard since it is a crime novel, but it isn't exactly like Leonard. But it is about crime, or more exactly about the infectiousness of crime. Bad things happen to a decent guy, who, infected, does bad things.

This is a great novel, and the rest of Hautman's books are worth picking up.
