I suppose we reserve our deepest enmity for the perfidy of supposed "allies," where anger and outrage are joined by the hurt and embarrassment of betrayal. Hence my intense disgust with Saudi Arabia.

There are many - apparently including the Bush administration - who have not yet taken the clue (unfortunately bolstering the "this is about oil" cries), but if we do not take off after these Janus-faced swine, this oleaginous satrapy, after disposing of Saddam, we will deserve every accusation of hypocrisy and tunnel vision that has been hurled our way.

On the one hand we have the sususerrant reassurances of polished snakes like Saudi foreign policy adviser Adel Al-Jubeir about their cooperation in the war against terror financing, and on the other you have the stark fact that 15 of the 19 9/11 terrorists were Saudi (as is bin Laden himself), and statements like this:

Influential Saudi Interior Minister Prince Naif Ibn Abd Al-Aziz ... was quoted last week blaming Jews for the attacks on Sept. 11.

"Who committed the events of Sept. 11? . . . I think [the Zionists] are behind these events," Prince Naif was quoted in a Nov. 29 interview by Kuwait's Al Siyasa newspaper.

"It is impossible that 19 youths, including 15 Saudis, carried out the operation of Sept. 11," Naif said, according to a translation distributed by the Middle East Media Research Institute. The transcription also revealed that Naif accused the "Zionist-controlled media" in the United States of manipulating the terror war to create a backlash against Muslims.

I look forward to some American, especially a Jewish American, kicking this gilded excrement repeatedly in the jimmies in the very near future. Don't urinate on me and tell me it's raining.

What is worse: declared enemies who publicly spit our name into the gutter, or back-stabbing "friends" who fund our enemies in the hope of being spared their wrath. There is a special place in hell for the latter.
