Clive Davis Takes Over RCA
Published November 19, 2002
Clive Davis, who learned the record biz under the watchful eye of Thomas Edison, will head the reformed RCA Records:
- Clive Davis, the longtime music mogul and founder of J Records, will head the combined RCA music group, BMG said in a statement.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
RCA Music is home to such stars as Christina Aguilera, the Foo Fighters and Dave Mathews. J Records is known for recording such artists as Alicia Keys and Luther Vandross.
Bob Jamieson, chairman and chief executive of RCA music group, is leaving and in discussions with BMG about future roles, the company said.
Davis, known for signing Whitney Houston and other superstars, was forced out of Arista, BMG's other record label, in June 2000. He launched J Records in August of that year as a 50-50 joint venture with BMG, which invested $150 million. [from CBS MarketWatch]

Dear Human Resources,
With the current slowdown in hiring within the high-tech field, you must be flooded with resumes from out-placed potential candidates such as myself.
I don’t have any representation but, I am responsible and a quick learner. I always have a good ear for music and, believe I can be a solid asset in picking out the quality from the masses. I am aware that Mr. C. Davis is always looking for fresh artist or songwriters. Currently I am married, father and, live in New Jersey. I am in New York City frequently, so if you wish to meet me, I would make myself available. Yes I created a demo tape, which by the way was done within 2 takes. I played bass, all the guitars and sung vocals. I also received some good to great responses on the demo from Emilo Estefan Jr. of Estefan Enterprises, Strauss Zelnick of BMI , Pete Robinson of RCI, Gene Simmons of Simmons Records, and Ernie Back of K-Rock. I also had the song played on local radio shows in the late hours. One in particular was WDHA of Northern New Jersey in which I was compared to the artist Lou Reed.
I am asking for your help in getting some of my material heard. I would like to have the opportunity to be considered for a project either as an artist or as a song writer for an up and coming artist. I am willing to work hard at these goals if giving the chance, being that this is my dream. Thank you, very much for your time regarding my request to full fill my dream.
Sincerely,
Richard E. Pezza

Hello,
I am a singer/songwriter/guitarist with a hunger to make it more than anyone I know. Whats more is I know I have talent.I am the elder son of Folk singers from Pakistan. I grew up listening to all forms of rock music and have a strong ear and knowledge of my own subcontinental music as well. I have performed in front of large crowds since the age of 17. I am 23 now and I assure you there is nothing I cannot do. I can sing note perfectly with an incredibly versatility in pitch. I can play a guitar solo on the back of my head(literally) and I have written over 20 songs in a span of a year and they have all been well appreciated by my audiences.
I need to know how to get in touch with the right people and what the would require in order to hear me out. I am sure you have been approached before but I assure you I am the man you are looking for. Rock, Jazz, Eastern Classical I can do it all in short radio friendly hits.
I need to know what to do and who to get through to.
Dont lose out. Help me.
