First, I would like to say: Wow!

The Springsteen concert last night at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC was absolutely amazing. Never have I experienced a show of that calibar, especially from a band who is in their 50s. The energy level was near 11 throughout the entire show and even Clarence "The Big Man" Clemens, who just had eye surgery last week for a detached retna, was engaging in the rock and roll testimony of Bruce and the entire E Street Band.

The show started 45 minutes late due to traffic problems, so I had a little time to do some people watching. I must say, Bruce draws such a diverse crowd to his concerts. Every type was there; from those who think Born in the USA is a patriotic love song for America to highschool rockers with the scruffy "early Bruce" look.

Playing mostly material off of his current album, The Rising, Bruce surprised the audience with a few oldies, including Cadillac Ranch and She's the One. Classic Bruce tunes such as Born to Run (I still can not believe I saw them play that!), Dancing in the Dark, and Born in the USA (a "song of peace", he said before playing it) were also part of the 2 hour and 45 minute set.

I am convinced that the high ticket price ($75) was completely justified, considering the quality and duration of the performace. Bruce and the band are truly one of the best concert givers. Their energy seems almost endless.

From one hometown boy to another: Bruce, thanks. You rocked so hard, that even I was dancing.
