Donnas Crippled
Published November 15, 2002
Credible rumor has it that the Donnas new CD, their major label debut on Atlantic Spend the Night, has been "crippled" with the dreaded copy-protection. Our source reported that he was able to rip the CD on a Linux machine using CD Paranoia.
Fat Chuck's has a list of copy-protected CDs released in North America and Europe. They also have a list of action you can take to register your displeasure with copy-protected CDs, including joining in the class action suit Dickey vs. Universal et al.

You know, im glad that the donnas wont spread. Mostly because they are a horrible band. Ill boycott any cd they make.
I hate the Donnas, their a disgrace to music!! THEY NEED TO STOP MAKING CD's!!
I was able to rip my copy using Windows Media Player 9, no problems.
I think the Donnas break absolutely no new ground in rock and roll, but they do bring the noise!
thx 4 the tip, cdparanoia worked perfect. imho the only way to make a backup 4 me. i was surprised expiriencing probs on linux ever backuping a cd. but this 1 got me half an hour googling til this post came up. they are better of selling music cheaper since the cost of production and distribution isnt this much explaining the price. and under european law im allowed of making copies for my own, even converting to mp3 for MY use. one thing to the big companies and wannabies like the donnas => STOP PRETENDING EVERY CUSTOMER IS A THIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the European release of Paradise Lost's new album is 'corrupt'. That's cost them a sale from me.
