Guilty Pleasures and Killer Closers
Published November 09, 2002
I must confess, a few of my favorite songs are by bands that fall into the "You can't be serious" category - usually because the lyrics say something . . . or something. These songs never make it to the radio, though, so maybe that counts for a few anti-industry coolness points. Sometimes those silly emotions just won't be rational.
She grabs her magazines
She packs up her things, and she goes
She leaves the pictures hanging on the wall
She burns all her notes and she knows
She's been here too few years to feel this old
And we always say, it would be good to go away, someday
but there's nothing here to make things change
Hang - Matchbox 20
For some reason I can't quite pin down, a lot of my favorites also happen to be the closing track of a tape side or CD. Most of these never seem to make it to the radio either.
